JOB DESCRIPTION

Being part of the E2E piping Engineering organisation, the main objective of the role is to ensure connexion between the contractors and the client, particularly on the assessment of the site requests. The main purpose is to ensure the FCR/NCR production of the  contract is sufficient to allow a quick treatment and feedback allowing construction activities to carry on in good time.

  • The MEH programme is about to enter a change in delivery phase to commence bulk installation on site from the start of 2024, whereas previously the focus has been on securing the design and manufacturing. As such the spotlight will fall on the construction leads for the engineering delivery of the site scope;
  • The “Piping Engineering Construction - Site Coordinator” reports functionally to the “BNI BOP Piping Engineering Construction Lead”;
  • The current team size is 8 engineers, however this will grow to match the workload on site and will involve operational leadership of a matrixed team;
  • As this is a front-line site delivery role, there is a necessity to work flexibility working under the time pressure of the schedule in order to unblock technical issues to allow continuity of work by the installation teams.
  • The “Piping Engineering Construction - Site Coordinator” is part of a wider team reporting to the BNI & BOP Piping Engineering Manager delivering the E2E life cycle of the piping scope.
  • He has counterparts across the other disciplines in MEH engineering, who perform equivalent roles for the other 4 disciplines of MEH.
  • It expected from the “Piping Engineering Construction - Site Coordinator” to have very close collaboration with the construction team as being at the interface between E2E engineering team and construction team.
  • MEH End to End Engineering team is currently circa 120 engineers
  • Piping Engineering team consists of circa 40 engineers
  • Piping Construction Engineering team is currently 8 engineers, but this will grow to match the delivery needs
  • Budget responsibilities:
    • management installation's company is owned by the Programme Senior Project Manager. 
    • efficient management of resourcing according to a defined budget.
  • Review the content of the FCR (Field Change Requests) and NCR (site Non-Conformance) issued by the construction team on the following aspects:
    1. Characterisation: Ensure the description of the FCR/NCR is sufficiently clear to allow proper assessment. Ensure the FCR/NCR contains sufficient level of information (root cause, scope impacted, details of the issue…).
    2. Remediation: Review the optioneering and ensure the proposed remediation plan is relevant and achievable. Ensure the FCR/NCR contains a preferred option and confirm this option remains the best for project decision
    3. Delegation: propose the level of delegation to be allocated for the FCR/NCR treatment
  • Ensure regular connexion with the construction team to establish the following:
    • Review of the trend of FCR/NCR (frequency of occurrence, type of issues)
    • Be source of proposal to mitigate in advance and when relevant the trend and the most frequent occurrences met by the construction team
    • Propose set of KPIs to follow the FCR/NCR throughput
  • Be in constant connexion with the Front Office organisation (JDO) to provide them with the necessary information regarding the relevant FCR/NCR
  • Coordinate the flow of communication between the two parties to have relevant information in the FCR/NCR:
    • Request additional information/details from the construction team when requested
    • Provide sufficient level of details 
  • Proactive reactivity and technical experience to enable site construction activities to be executed without blocker to delivery, by providing technical support/expertise to close all open points / technical queries raised by the construction contractor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential knowledge:

  • Proven experience working in an equivalent / related role in the construction industry;
  • Meticulous and rigorous approach to engineering to achieve high professional standards;
  • Excellent oral communication skills to ensure smooth connexion between relevant stakeholders
  • Excellent written communication skills to ensure good characterisation of the FCR/NCR on site
  • Strong people leadership skills to coordinate efficient delivery of Construction Team  steering good quality of the documentation and ensuring quick and efficient review from the organisation;
  • Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders;
  • Ability to work autonomously but with awareness of own limitations;

Desirable knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in related engineering field;
  • Chartered Engineer with relevant engineering institute;
  • Detailed understanding of PWR design and experience in PWR operations;
  • Working knowledge of French language an advantage;
  • Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.
