Hourly Rate:  

Mon-Fri DAYS £15 & Sat-Sun DAYS £17 

Mon-Fri NIGHTS £16 & Sat-Sun NIGHTS £18 

Increase in hourly rate on the completion of competencies 

Shifts: 07:00-19:00 (Days) | 19:00 - 07:00 (Nights)

Sugarman Health & Wellbeing is looking for compassionate and dedicated Complex Care Assistants to support a gentleman in his 40s who lives independently in his own home. He has a C2 spinal cord injury and receives 24-hour, 2:1 support from a dedicated care team. 

This is a highly rewarding role supporting an individual who enjoys making the most of life. He loves spending time with family and friends, attending social events, going on days out, getting out into the community, and enjoying walks. We are looking for care staff who will not only provide excellent clinical support but also help him maintain an active, fulfilling lifestyle.

About the Role 

As a Complex Care Assistant, you will work as part of a dedicated 2:1 support team, assisting the individual with all aspects of daily living while promoting independence, dignity, choice, and wellbeing. 

The role involves supporting both clinical and social needs, helping the individual remain active within the community and enjoy the hobbies and activities that are important to him. 

Clinical Support Includes: 

  • Tracheostomy care 
  • Ventilator support and monitoring 
  • Manual and mechanical cough assist 
  • Suprapubic catheter care 
  • Bowel care management 
  • Medication administration 
  • Monitoring health and wellbeing and escalating concerns appropriately 
  • Following detailed care plans and clinical protocols 

Full specialist training will be provided by our clinical team. 

Daily Living & Community Support Includes: 

  • Personal care and hygiene support 
  • Assistance with dressing 
  • Supporting community access, appointments, days out, and social activities 
  • Assisting with meal preparation and nutrition 
  • Household duties 
  • Providing companionship and emotional support 
  • Promoting independence and supporting individual goals 

 

What We're Looking For 

We are looking for caring, reliable, and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality care and supporting people to live the life they choose. 

 

Essential Requirements 

  • Minimum 6 months' professional UK care experience 
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to drive a mobility-adapted vehicle 
  • Non-smoker/non-vaper 
  • Physically able and willing to support an active lifestyle, including walking and outdoor activities 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to accurately document care provided, communicate effectively with the individual being supported, colleagues and family members 
  • Excellent teamwork skills 
  • A compassionate and person-centred approach 

 Desirable Requirements 

  • Previous experience working within Complex Care 
  • Experience supporting individuals with spinal cord injuries 
  • Experience with tracheostomy, ventilation, catheter care, or bowel care
