SDH Network Engineer - SC Clearance
Location: Birmingham
Contract duration – 3 months +
Hours – Shift, nights & out of hours, some days
Rates: To be discussed

SC Clearance - Candidates must possess or be eligible for security clearance to SC level.
Contract opportunity for an experienced SDH Transmission Network Engineer to take ownership of Cramer planning and network re-provisioning of circuits and services that for a large existing customer. You will be responsible for the build, migration and testing of new transmission circuits. The Engineer will be primarily responsible for the build of new circuits, pre outage and post engagement in out of hours to monitor the network to test and activate live network.
Key responsibilities:
* Technical build and provisioning of SDH transmission circuits and core network elements
* Setup and activation of network out of hours
* Handle Exceptions & Perform Provisioning Tasks
* Engage on a conference call out of hours to monitor the network
* Check to see the old ccts go down, and ensure the ccts come back up ok
* Call/Email third party vendors/other operators for updates/issues
* Raise Faults and follow-up for the same
* Utilising IP protocols
* Maintain internally set KPIs and ensure SLAs are not breached.
* Establish and maintain working relationships with Operations and Customer Service teams in order to ensure that any impacts to provisioning activities that may result from fault rectification activities are managed.
This role requires candidates with experience of working within the telecommunications sector with knowledge of data communications and an understanding of broadband technologies – SDH, PDH, Transmission, Cisco routers and switches, basic IP protocols etc.
Ideally candidates will have some knowledge of Cramer or similar network inventory tools.
