The Recruitment Co are looking for a highly experienced manufacturing supervisor to join our ever growing automotive client in Bolton.
This is a rotating shift pattern of earlies, lates and nights weekly.
Overview
To lead and inspire the Production Teams to achieve build volume expectations whilst ensuring 100%
quality and accuracy. To champion a continuous improvement culture within team, and focus on short term
projects, as well as driving and implementing longer term improvement strategies.
Must be confident and have experience in managing a team of over 40 operatives and 3 line leaders.
Duties
- To maintain the general supervision and discipline of the personnel under their control. When they are the Senior person on the back shifts they will be responsible for the discipline of all shift personnel working in the factory.
- To ensure that production is carried out according to the production plan, that specified standards and process instructions are strictly adhered to including manning levels.
- To advise the Manufacturing Manager of any improvements considered beneficial to production efficiency or the Company’s products.
- To sign off all changeovers as being acceptable for production including layout, product folder and all associated documentation required to complete the production run.
- Identifying issues and directing troubleshooters in rectifying moulding problems associated with the manufacturing process.
- Communicate effectively with the other Shift Supervisors to work as a coherent team to achieve consistency in all matters, including ‘smooth shift handovers’.
- Prioritise and progress maintenance issues.
- Collate and distribution, where necessary all production documentation on a daily basis within each cell.
- To provide production figures by shift by day to the Manufacturing Manager and to review the daily/weekly departments performance, identifying areas for improvement activity.
- To be familiar with all emergency actions and evacuation procedures, ensuring that safety devices are effective and that relevant personnel are instructed in their use. That fire precautions are observed and all hazards and accidents are properly reported in accordance with the Company procedures.
- To organise the training of operators in the efficient performance of their duties, in liaison with the Training Officer.
- To plan the daily allocation of trained labour to each production cell which must be in line with the training matrix thus identifying shortfalls in any individuals training needs and ensure subsequent training is carried out with the training officer and documented.
- To organise where required appropriate cover for key personnel when approving holidays.
Candidate specification
- 2 years minimum demonstrable experience of Line Management role in a team, hi-tech, high-volume manufacturing role (ideally automotive), with experience of managing or co-ordinating production support staff.
