Role Profile
Our client, a leading manufacturing and infrastructure business, are looking for a Buyer to join the business on their site based in Manchester. The position will have exposure to all areas of the business, specifically working with the wider purchasing, Operations, finance and commercial teams.

The role is focused on managing the sourcing goods and services across Operations, Facilities, ICT, Passive and Active Engineering and Travel whilst maintaining the strong relationships with suppliers.

Further responsibilities include;

  • The procurement of goods and services across areas including; Engineering and Instrumentation, Materials, IT, Facilities and Travel.
  • Continual development and implementation of the procurement strategy and policies
  • Identify & implement cost saving initiatives.
  • Manage the supply chain risks and propose solutions
  • Vendor Management - drive improved value from the Supply Chain via KPIs and review meetings
  • Negotiate clear, robust and favourable terms in appropriate contractual and commercial frameworks.
  • Identify new suppliers, conduct initial meetings and make recommendations to the business on engagement and selection.
  • Issuing Pre-Qualification documentation, reviewing and distributing returned submissions to appropriate decision makers and making recommendations.
  • Undertaking the creation of purchase orders for good and services, as required, to support the business.
  • Build and develop relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to an environment of Change and Process Improvement
  • Mentoring and managing junior team members.

About You
The successful candidate will be an engaging person with strong communication skills which have been developed in a similar procurement role.

Additionally, the below experience is essential;

  • CIPS accredited or a related degree
  • Experience in the procurement of direct and/or indirect goods & services as a Buyer.
  • "Cradle-to-Grave" exposure to the tender process.
  • Experience of supplier selection - auditing and assessing supplier
  • An understanding of procurement principles around category management and contract management.
