This company is one of the leading employers in the local area. They have recently invested significantly in their site and created a number of new positions. They are looking for an experienced Scrap Buyer to play a pivotal role in their expansion plans. This role would be ideal for someone who wants to join a thriving business where they can develop and progress long term whilst managing their own work load.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Buying and sourcing of Ferrous Scrap and Non-Ferrous Metals from the UK market, negotiate prices and contracts.
- Managing relationships and existing suppliers to ensure contracts and quality standards are adhered to, this will include site visits.
- Development of new sources of scrap.
- Use of SAP system and Excel to maintain accurate & up to date records, retrieve stored information, produce orders or respond to enquiries.
- Ensure compliance of quality standards and adherence to standards operating procedures.
- Promote Total Quality Management, Health and Safety, Continuous Improvement and contribute to the “Scrap Purchasing Mini Company” concept and maintain scorecards.
- Take the lead with forecasting, planning an decision-making in coordination within the scrap purchasing team so that the strategy and performance is aligned with the other business strategies.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Buying, sales or commercial experience ideally within a Scrap Metal or Recycling environment.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Ability to work and adapt to a diverse audience.
- Excellent communication skills across all levels.
- Ability to work individually at times showing strong decision making skills.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently while out of the office.
