Major Recruitment is currently recruiting for experienced Lockstitch Machinists to join a highly regarded, high-end manufacturing environment in the Alfreton area.

The Role

As a Lockstitch Machinist, you will be responsible for producing high-quality upholstery components using industrial sewing machinery.

The role is fast-paced and production-focused, so the ability to work efficiently while maintaining consistently high standards is essential.

You will be expected to:

• Operate industrial lockstitch sewing machines.
• Sew upholstery materials and components to a high standard.
• Follow patterns, specifications and production requirements accurately.
• Maintain a strong balance between speed, quality and output.
• Ensure stitching, seams and finished products meet required quality standards.
• Inspect your own work and identify any defects or quality issues.
• Work to production targets in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain consistency throughout the production process.
• Follow health and safety and workplace procedures.
• Keep your work area clean, organised and safe.
• Work as part of a busy production team.

About You

We are looking for candidates who have:

• Previous experience as a Lockstitch Machinist.
• Upholstery sewing experience.
• Experience working with industrial sewing machines.
• The ability to produce a consistently high-quality finish.
• Good attention to detail.
• The ability to work quickly and efficiently.
• A strong understanding of production quality requirements.
• The ability to work towards targets and maintain productivity.
• A reliable and hardworking approach.

Quality is extremely important in this role, but so is speed. You will need to demonstrate that you can maintain a high-quality finish while producing work at the required pace.

Skills Test

As part of the recruitment process, candidates will be required to complete a practical sewing skills test.

The skills test will assess your ability to operate the machinery, your sewing technique, accuracy, quality of finish and ability to work at an appropriate production pace.
