LEGAL ASSISTANT

 We are looking for an organised and compassionate Legal Assistant to join the Private Client team of a small law firm based in Hull City Centre. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a company know for it’s high quality legal work, specialising in commercial property, commercial and corporate, private and compensations law. No formal legal qualifications required, but previous experience is essential.

 

Shift pattern/ Working hours:

Monday to Friday – 35 hours per week

8am-4pm / 8:30am-4:30pm / 9am-5pm – hours can be flexible to suit

The Legal Assistant position is a permanent role that will commence with immediate effect. Should you be subject to any notice period with a current employer we will work around that.

 

Job Description

As a Legal Assistant you will be responsible for managing all aspects of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Probate and Estate Administration with care and professionalism. Your day to day duties will include;

·       Managing all aspects of probate and estate administration files, from initial instruction to completion.

·       Preparing probate applications and associated documentation.

·       Preparing Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

·       Liaising with executors, beneficiaries, HMCTS, HMRC, and financial institutions.

·       Drafting correspondence, schedules of assets/liabilities, and estate accounts.

·       Ensuring deadlines are met and maintaining accurate file records.

·       Providing clear and empathetic client communication throughout the process.

·       Ensuring accurate data entry and file management.

·       Supporting fee earners and contributing to team targets.

 

The successful candidate:

To be considered for the position of Legal Assistant you must;

·       Have experience working in wills, probate and/or estate administration — whether in a law firm, accountancy practice, bank, insurance company or similar setting.

·       Be highly organised, with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach.

·       Be comfortable managing multiple matters and communicating with clients during sensitive times.

·       Have the ability to work independently but enjoy being part of a small, supportive team.

·       Have strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

·       Be proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems
