Production Engineer

Production Engineer (VC10897) Northallerton, England

Salary: GBP33000 - GBP36000 per annum

A well established and growing food manufacturing business based in Northallerton is recruiting an experienced Production Engineer to join their team.  

As Production Engineer, you will be responsible for preventative maintenance in a very fast paced manufacturing environment. Reporting into the Engineering Team Leader, you will ensure smooth running of the factory machinery, mainly through concentrating on preventative maintenance, rather than corrective.  

Main duties within the Production Engineer role include:

  • Maintaining strong communication with both shift and line managers.
  • Comply with company Good Manufacturing Practice.
  • Keep full and up to date records of all equipment at all times to ensure that traceability is accountable.
  • Ensure that factory engineering stores are always fully equipment and stocked.
  • Keep yourself aware of the production plan, and any changes to this plan in order to plan daily work.
  • To report any machinery problems or any unfinished jobs.
  • Responsibility for the site and services operation fault finding throughout the site and services engineers
  • To attend break down and call out within max of 5 min form the call made.
  • To adapt clean as you go policy
  • Ensure Production productivity is kept at maximum capacity - downtime is not more than 5%

  • Maintenance and improvements
  • Support for site services and projects

The shift pattern you would work contains days and nights.

The successful Production Engineer will be time served, qualified and ideally multi-skilled.  You will be able to work from schematics and have a good sound knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems as well as sensors and invertors, also good machining and lathing experience and enjoy preventative and proactive maintenance (95% of your time will be based on this rather than reactive, corrective maintenance)
