Materials Planner (BBBH413) Renfrewshire, Scotland

Salary: GBP30000 - GBP35000 per annum

MRD Recruitment is currently recruiting a Materials Planner for one of our manufacturing clients based in Renfrewshire.

This is a varied position that combines materials planning and inventory management with customer service and order coordination responsibilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring production schedules are supported with the correct materials while maintaining excellent communication with customers regarding orders, deliveries, and enquiries.

Key Responsibilities

Materials Planning

  • Plan and schedule raw materials and components to meet production requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify replenishment needs.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders with suppliers.
  • Track supplier performance, delivery schedules, and lead times.
  • Work closely with Production, Purchasing, and Warehouse teams to ensure material availability.
  • Maintain accurate planning and stock records within the ERP/MRP system.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise stock levels and reduce shortages.

Customer Service & Order Management

  • Act as a key point of contact for customer enquiries.
  • Process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide updates on order status, lead times, and delivery schedules.
  • Resolve customer queries and escalate issues where necessary.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with production and logistics teams to ensure customer expectations are met.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience in a Materials Planner, Production Planner, Supply Chain Coordinator, Customer Service Coordinator, or similar role.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or production environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator with strong customer service skills.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
