MRD Recruitment are working in partnership with a leading UK-wide parcel delivery and logistics provider to recruit an experienced Operations Manager to oversee high-volume warehouse and depot operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient, and safe running of a fast-paced parcel sorting and distribution facility. You will play a key part in driving operational performance, managing large teams, and ensuring strict delivery SLAs are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day warehouse and parcel sortation operations within a high-volume depot
• Lead, manage, and develop a large operational workforce including supervisors and team leaders
• Ensure all parcels are processed, sorted, and dispatched within strict timeframes
• Monitor and improve operational KPIs including productivity, accuracy, and on-time performance
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse processes and workflows
• Maintain compliance with health & safety legislation and company policies
• Manage staffing levels, shift planning, and resource allocation to meet demand peaks
• Work closely with transport, network, and customer service teams to resolve operational issues
• Manage performance management processes, training, and employee engagement initiatives
• Control operational costs and support budget management

About You

• Proven experience in a warehouse, parcel, logistics, or distribution environment at management level
• Strong leadership experience managing large teams in a fast-paced operational setting
• Background in high-volume sortation, parcel distribution, or similar logistics operations
• Strong understanding of warehouse systems, KPI management, and operational planning
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive, hands-on approach
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence at all levels
• Comfortable working in a shift-based environment (including evenings/night shifts where required)

Desirable Experience

• Experience within a parcel carrier, courier, or express logistics environment
• Multi-site or large depot experience
