MRD Recruitment are currently recruiting a Materials Planner for one of our manufacturing clients based in Port Glasgow. 

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the timely availability of raw materials and components to support production schedules while maintaining optimal inventory levels.

This role is critical to achieving on-time delivery, minimising stock shortages, and supporting efficient manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and manage material requirements in line with production plans and forecasts
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure availability while avoiding excess or obsolete stock
• Create and maintain material plans using MRP/ERP systems
• Liaise with procurement, suppliers, production, and logistics teams to resolve material issues
• Track supplier performance and follow up on late or incomplete deliveries
• Analyse demand, lead times, and usage trends to improve planning accuracy
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain
• Maintain accurate master data and planning parameters
• Prepare reports on material availability, inventory performance, and risks to supply

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in a materials planning, production planning, or supply chain role within a manufacturing environment
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis
• Understanding of inventory management principles and lead-time planning
