Salary: GBP35000 - GBP38000 per annum

MRD Recruitment is currently a Buyer on a full-time basis for one of our Engineering Clients based in East Lothian.

This role plays a key part in supporting operational and production requirements by ensuring materials, components, and services are sourced efficiently, cost-effectively, and on time.

Working closely with engineering, production, and supplier partners, the Buyer will be responsible for managing the end-to-end purchasing process while contributing to continuous improvement across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the procurement of materials, components, and services in line with engineering and production requirements
  • Source and negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value, quality, and delivery performance
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal procedures
  • Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and delivery schedules
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including Engineering, Planning, and Manufacturing
  • Support cost-reduction and supplier rationalisation initiatives
  • Resolve supply issues and proactively mitigate risks to production
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier data within the ERP/MRP system

About You

  • Previous experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role within an engineering, manufacturing, or technical environment
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and procurement processes
  • Confident negotiating with suppliers and managing commercial relationships
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings or technical specifications (desirable)
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office
