Data Operations Engineer – Boston - $140-165k

A global private equity fund and one of the largest private equity investment managers worldwide is seeking a Data Operations Engineer to join its Quantitative Investment Science team. This role supports data‑driven investment applications that create competitive advantage across private equity, venture capital, and buyout strategies.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on data professional who enjoys working close to the investment process in a collaborative, low‑turnover environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Prepare, test, and deploy financial and investment-related applications
  • Run and monitor data pipelines; maintain test suites for data quality and validation
  • Partner with Data Engineering, DevOps, and Application Development teams to integrate automated testing into CI/CD workflows
  • Improve data warehouse pipelines and data models
  • Support investment model research through deep data analysis
  • Monitor data workflows, KPIs, alerting, and logging
  • Own incident response and root-cause analysis for data issues
  • Support internal stakeholders with data integration, reporting, and tooling

What you bring:

  • 3–5 years of experience in data operations, data engineering, or data analysis
  • Strong experience with data pipelines, ETL, and data-centric testing for large datasets
  • Proficiency in SQL (MSSQL or equivalent) and Python
  • Experience with DBT and Azure Data Factory / Pipelines
  • Familiarity with Agile / Scrum environments
  • Exposure to financial or private equity data preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Master’s a plus)
