Fantastic opportunity for an experienced lawyer with a strong foundation in commercial/contracts law, who is looking for a varied and challenging in-house role, to join a rapidly growing and successful B2B subscription-based business that operates in the energy research sector.

Reporting to the General Counsel, you will provide legal support in the negotiation, drafting, and review of commercial contracts, as well as advising on various legal matters related to the research and professional services.

Your responsibilities will be wide-ranging but with a focus on supporting the sales team in the negotiation of their client contracts along with the the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of other legal matters including compliance, IP strategy, company secretarial/corporate governance, providing internal stakeholder advice on a wide range of legal queries and supporting project work. 

Duties

  • Contract review and negotiation: reviewing contracts, including subscription agreements, licence agreements and vendor contracts and negotiating terms to protect company interests.
  • Compliance: providing advice on the company's compliance with relevant laws and regulations, such as data protection, anti-bribery and anti-money laundering regulations and supporting the implementation of processes to ensure compliance with the re levant laws and regulations.
  • Intellectual property: supporting the protection of the company's ’ intellectual property and ensuring that the company does not infringe on the intellectual property rights related to contracts and commitments we have entered.
  • Risk management: identifying and mitigating legal risks that could impact the company's operations, such as reputational risks, regulatory risks, and contractual risks.
  • M&A support: working as part of an internal deal team to support the assessment, negotiation and post-transaction elements of an acquisition.
  • Corporate governance: ensuring that the company adheres to the best practices in corporate governance which includes maintaining accurate records, complying with shareholder requirements and applicable rules and regulations.
