Are you an Infrastructure Engineer looking for a hands‑on role supporting and delivering critical IT infrastructure? I’m currently supporting an organisation that’s expanding its infrastructure capability and is seeking an experienced engineer to work across design, implementation, automation, and support. This role operates in a high‑security environment and candidates must already hold active DV (Developed Vetting) clearance. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys ownership, technical breadth, and working as part of a skilled, delivery‑focused team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and implement IT infrastructure solutions across physical and virtual environments.
- Support and maintain existing infrastructure, ensuring availability, security, and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues, escalating where appropriate.
- Perform system health and maintenance tasks including backups, patching, vulnerability management, and upgrades.
- Create and maintain clear documentation for supported infrastructure and solutions.
- Document incidents and remediation actions to support continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain scripts or automation to improve efficiency and reduce manual administration.
- Take ownership of infrastructure‑related project work, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
- Work closely with other technical teams to deliver reliable and customer‑focused solutions.
What They Are Looking For
- Active DV Clearance
- Background in system administration or infrastructure support.
- Experience delivering or leading infrastructure‑focused project work.
- Strong general networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience supporting enterprise networking environments (e.g. Cisco, Juniper, HPE, Dell).
- Virtualisation experience with VMware and/or Hyper‑V.
- Strong Microsoft and Linux systems administration skills.
- Experience with backup technologies such as Veeam or NetBackup.
- Scripting or automation experience using tools such as Ansible, Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Able to work autonomously as well as part of a wider technical team.
- Clear communication skills and a customer‑focused mindset.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
Desirable:
- Experience using source control tools such as GitLab or Bitbucket.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
