Job Title: Vehicle Software Operative
Job Location: Burnaston, Derby
Pay Rate: £18.92 per hour
Shift: Nights – 18:00 to 02:30
Gi Group is working with British Car Auctions, based at the Car Plant in Burnaston, Derby (DE1 9TA).
We are looking for Vehicle Software Operatives to join our team working with brand-new vehicles. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys driving, technology and working with computerised systems.
You don’t need previous automotive or software experience as full training will be provided, but you will need to be confident using technology, able to follow processes accurately and hold a full UK driving licence.
Vehicle Software Operative Responsibilities
- Safely driving and moving brand-new vehicles around the site
- Carrying out vehicle software updates using computerised systems
- Connecting vehicles to diagnostic equipment and monitoring software processes
- Following digital instructions and standard work processes
- Checking and confirming that software updates have been completed correctly
- Recording information accurately on computer systems
- Working carefully to ensure vehicles meet the required specification
- Following all site health & safety procedures
- Working both independently and as part of a team

Vehicle Software Operative Requirements
- Full UK driving licence held for 24 months or more
- No more than 6 points on your licence
- Must be aged 22 or over
- Confident driving ability
- Comfortable using computers, tablets and other technology
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Able to follow detailed processes and instructions
- Reliable with excellent timekeeping and attendance
- Organised and able to work independently
- Previous automotive, assembly, technical or computer-based experience would be beneficial but is not essential
