Surrey Translation Bureau wishes to appoint a permanent full-time in-house Translation Project Manager based at its offices in Farnham (GU9 7QU).

This is a great opportunity to join a busy office and friendly team of eight project managers. It would suit a recent graduate or someone with translation experience looking for a different experience.

Depending on experience there will be the chance to develop and use skills including team management, translation, CAT tools, editing, training and client care. The job will also occasionally involve visiting clients (including overseas), attending conferences and events, and contributing to marketing and company strategy.

Native level English and a graduate degree in translation are essential, with Finnish an advantage.

Project Management duties

  • Dealing with customer enquiries and producing quotations in a timely fashion
  • Organising and running multiple translation projects for various clients
  • Selecting and assigning translation teams
  • Carrying out detailed quality control checks on files
  • Updating and maintaining translation memories and termbases

Account Management duties

  • Maximising project profit
  • Maintaining and growing relationships with existing clients and creating new client relationships
  • Visiting clients as and when required, domestically and overseas.

Linguistic duties

  • Assessing quality of supplier output on an ongoing basis
  • Editing and revising translations
  • Performing short translation tasks on an ad hoc basis

Education and skills

  • A recognised graduate degree in translation
  • Excellent business communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong IT skills and knowledge of CAT tools (preferably SDL Trados or Across).
  • Initiative and commercial decision-making.
