Temporary Events Specialist (A1476367IR) Cambridge, Massachusetts

Salary: USD30 - USD30 per hour

This temporary Event Specialist opportunity offers $30/hour and is expected to run through June with potential for permanent hire. The position is based in Cambridge, MA, beginning fully onsite for training before transitioning to a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite, 2 days remote). Standard hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with flexibility required for occasional evening and weekend events. This role is with a nonprofit research and policy organization and focuses on planning, coordinating, and executing virtual, hybrid, and in-person events.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary operational lead for assigned virtual and in-person events.
  • Manage all phases of event planning, execution, reconciliation, and post-event evaluation.
  • Coordinate vendor relationships, contracts, budgets, and event logistics.
  • Oversee registration management, speaker coordination, and travel arrangements.
  • Direct onsite and virtual event operations and troubleshoot issues as needed.
  • Partner with internal teams including IT, Facilities, Communications, and program departments.
  • Support large-scale and high-visibility events alongside senior team members.
  • Contribute to process improvements, documentation, and cross-functional special projects.
  • Ensure events align with branding standards and audience engagement objectives.

Qualifications:

  • 3-8 years of event planning, meeting management, administrative, program management, or related experience.
  • Experience supporting virtual and hybrid events.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience managing vendors, budgets, logistics, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and proactively solve problems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management platforms such as Asana or Monday.com.
  • Experience with platforms such as Zoom and Swoogo preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Spanish or Portuguese language skills are a plus.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional travel as needed.
