Our client, a prestigious higher education institution, is seeking a Temporary Administrative Assistant to join their team onsite in Cambridge, MA. This opportunity offers $25.50/hour, follows a Monday-Friday 9:00 AM-5:00 PM schedule (37.5 hours per week), and is expected to last 3+ months with potential for permanent hire. This position supports a busy academic department through a combination of administrative coordination, data management, reporting, course administration, and technology support. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented administrative professional with strong technical aptitude, database experience, and an interest in supporting students and faculty in an academic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile, analyze, and maintain data related to courses, students, alumni, grants, and departmental programs while preparing reports as needed.
- Support course scheduling, course bulletin updates, course evaluations, and academic program administration.
- Maintain databases containing student, alumni, registration, and departmental information.
- Assist with graduate admissions, recruitment initiatives, and student-facing administrative processes.
- Update and maintain departmental website content and online resources.
- Serve as a technology support resource and liaison for departmental computing and system-related needs.
- Coordinate events, special projects, and general office operations while providing administrative support to faculty, staff, and students.
Candidate Qualifications
- 3+ years of administrative experience required; prior experience in a higher education or academic environment preferred.
- Strong technical aptitude with experience managing databases, reports, and large volumes of information.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with FileMaker Pro is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
- Experience with web publishing tools, website maintenance, or related technologies is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree and prior university experience preferred.
