IT, Security Engineer - UHealth IT (R100061044) Miami, Florida

The Department of Information Technology has an exciting opportunity for a Full-time IT Security Engineer. The IT Security Engineer supports all aspects of security operations and all cybersecurity incident response related activities. The incumbent in this position will be responsible for initiatives as they relate to threat analysis, monitoring systems and applications, responding to all related cybersecurity alerts, and supporting strategic IT initiatives.

  • Develops, promotes, and maintains standards as they relate to technical support services and devices, including manufacturing and architectural standards.
  • Designs improved work systems by revising work standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage technology associated with security infrastructure.
  • Aids with project plan development, risk assessment, communications, status reporting, vendor management, and successful project completion.
  • Provides status updates on active projects.
  • Assumes responsibility for assigned projects and ensures an efficient and timely conclusion.
  • Contributes to strategic plan and assists in providing short- and long-term solutions to help meet campus-wide strategic and tactical planning initiatives.
  • Communicates with Manager regarding the efficient and timely delivery of services.
  • Performs investigations on inquiries, complaints, and problems.
  • Assists in the determination of critical milestones.
  • Provides feedback on ways to improve operations.
  • Works on departmental goals and objectives.
  • Supports the internal controls within the unit and compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Experience deploying and managing firewall solutions
  • Experience with security incident and event monitoring tools
  • Responsible for investigating, escalating, and remediating security incidents
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving security architecture
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations on implementation of security controls to detect, prevent, protect the UHealth network resources
  • Review, analyze requests for connecting devices to the UHealth network

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required. Master’s degree in Information Technology, Information Security, or relevant related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in network security.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of information risk concepts and principles to relate business needs to security controls.
  • Hand-on experience in deploying security solutions.
  • Prior experience in healthcare is preferred.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communications, listening, interviewing, fostering open communications, facilitating, and influencing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks and regulations, including HIPAA, NIST and COBIT.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CHE)
  • Cloud security certifications
