ABOUT THE ROLE


We are looking for an experienced Operations for a large australian crane business. The role will oversight the whole site in the northern beaches, this will include the management of an established team, capable a for coordinating the commissioning, maintenance and removal of cranes nationally, as well as safety compliance. This role requires someone with strong and positive people management skills, with strong operational experience, as well as in depth knowledge of cranes and safety legislation in the construction industry. This is a fantastic opportunity for an operations leader who is people and process-driven, with excellent team leadership skills to drive continuous process improvement.

Some of the duties include:

  • Lead a team of 14 staff, including project managers, technicians, maintenance, rigger and yard staff responsible for crane commissioning, crane maintenance and crane removal driving high performance and a safety focused culture.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency whilst reducing costs of the current operations
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks through a collaborative approach with cross-functional teams.
  • Plan and implement new strategic initiatives to continuously improve existing processes.
  • Provide a high level of customer service, ensuring meets agreed KPIs and other contractual obligations.
  • Lead and enhance the safety culture across the operations team, ensuring that safety legislation requirements are met.
  • Manage and monitor all job related costs.
  • Respond quickly to any service or people related issues.
  • Manage the performance and talent management of staff
  • Provide updates and advice to the Sales Team and the Managing Director
  • Ensure that all staff undertake work safely with industry best practice
  • Motivate and counsel staff where necessary
  • Undertake weekly reporting of performance in defined areas

Your qualifications and experience:

  • 5 years + as a senior operations manager in the construction industry
  • Strong leadership, management and communication skills
  • Sound decision making ability along with excellent planning and analytical skills
  • Experience in controlling and reporting on contract performance, /cost management
  • Competency using Microsoft office suite including Word and Excel.
