Speech Pathologist | FIFO Available (JN -082026-28543) Brisbane CBD, Brisbane, Australia
| Salary: | AUD44 - AUD58 per hour + Super, PD, Bonuses, Leave |
We are working with a specialised community service in Townsville seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist to support an established caseload. With flexibility around contract length, travel and work arrangements, this could be a great opportunity for someone looking for a short-term North Queensland adventure or a FIFO-style arrangement from Brisbane.
The Opportunity
This is a specialised Speech Pathology service with a strong focus on Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) clients, predominantly supporting children aged 0–6 years, with some school-aged and early teen clients.
You’ll work across a varied caseload, including:
- Paediatric speech and language assessment and intervention
- Deaf and Hard of Hearing clients and families
- Clients with complex and dual diagnoses
- First Nations families and clients, including those in remote communities
- Home, school and clinic-based services
- Telehealth for remote families
- Outreach to Mackay and Cairns
The majority of interventions are short-term, with a strong focus on assessment, therapy programs, monitoring and supporting families rather than managing long-term caseloads.
Swallowing experience is not required — the focus is on standard speech and language skills.
Why Consider This Role?
This is a genuinely flexible opportunity. The service is open to discussing an arrangement that works for the right clinician, including:
- Short-term contracts of around 3 months, with a preference on longer
- Fixed-term employment
- Casual engagement
- FIFO from Brisbane
- Short, intensive outreach blocks to Townsville, Mackay and/or Cairns
- Permanent relocation for those looking for a longer-term move
There is a travel budget available, and relocation/accommodation assistance may be considered on a case-by-case basis for the right candidate.
Support & Professional Development
You don't need previous DHH experience to be successful in this role. You'll receive:
- Support from experienced clinical leads
- Deaf awareness training
- Professional development specifically focused on the DHH space
- $1,000 annual PD allowance
- Additional PD opportunities linked to performance
- Ongoing clinical support and capability development
The Benefits
- Above-award remuneration - permanent rates approximately $49–$58/hr, depending on experience, with casual rates of up to approximately $72/hr
- $1,000 annual PD allowance, with additional PD funding and performance incentives available
- Potential $1,000 performance bonus for hitting KPI's as well as an additional 3 days paid leave over Christmas for eligible permanent employees
- Company vehicle available in Townsville for local outreach
- Centrally located office with dedicated treatment rooms
- Established facilities available for outreach in Mackay and Cairns
- Potential relocation/accommodation assistance
About You
We're looking for an experienced Speech Pathologist who can confidently step into an established caseload and work independently.
You'll ideally have:
- Current Speech Pathology Australia registration
- Previous paediatric experience
- Strong speech and language assessment and intervention skills
- Confidence working with families and other professionals
- A flexible and adaptable approach to clinical practice
- Strong communication and family engagement skills
- An interest in developing your skills within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing space
DHH experience is highly regarded but not essential — full training and clinical support will be provided.
If you've been considering a move north, want to escape the city for a few months, or would love the opportunity to experience Townsville, Mackay and Cairns, we'd love to speak with you.
We can discuss the different options available and work with you to find an arrangement that suits your circumstances.
