HR Manager (Fixed-Term Contract to Summer 2027)
Salary: £44,203 (FTE)
Location: Wigan
Contract: Fixed-term to Summer 2027
Working Pattern: Full-time, Term Time Only
Ashley Kate HR is pleased to be supporting our client in the education sector with the recruitment of an experienced HR Manager to join their team on a fixed-term basis until Summer 2027.
This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on HR professional to lead the day-to-day HR function, working closely with senior leaders to provide expert advice, drive continuous improvement and ensure HR processes remain compliant, efficient and people-focused.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert HR advice and guidance to managers and employees across a wide range of people matters.
- Manage employee relations cases including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence and performance management.
- Lead the full recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring compliance with Safer Recruitment requirements.
- Review, develop and implement HR policies and procedures in line with current employment legislation and best practice.
- Support organisational change, consultation processes and workforce planning initiatives.
- Coach and develop managers, building confidence in managing people matters effectively.
- Oversee HR administration, payroll changes, employee records and HR systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate mandatory training, support staff wellbeing initiatives and contribute to equality, diversity and inclusion objectives.
- Produce HR reports and workforce data to support informed decision-making.
About You
We're looking for an experienced HR professional who enjoys building relationships, supporting managers and delivering an excellent HR service.
You will have:
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent experience), with Level 7 desirable.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience managing a broad range of employee relations cases.
- Previous experience leading recruitment and onboarding processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work independently while partnering effectively with senior leaders.
- A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach with excellent attention to detail.
Previous experience within the education sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
