Ashley Kate are pleased to be supporting our client in the search for an experienced HR Manager to join their established operation in the Buxton area.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished HR professional who enjoys working at the heart of a fast-paced, operational business. You will work closely with senior leaders and site management, providing commercially focused HR support while helping to shape the people agenda across a complex industrial environment.
The role
As HR Manager, you will act as a trusted partner to senior stakeholders, providing pragmatic HR advice and ensuring people priorities support wider business objectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Partnering with senior leaders and operational management on people strategy and workforce priorities
- Providing expert guidance on complex employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance cases
- Supporting organisational change, restructuring and business transformation initiatives
- Managing and developing positive relationships within a unionised environment
- Supporting consultation and negotiations with trade union representatives
- Coaching and developing managers to strengthen leadership capability and people management
- Supporting workforce and succession planning to ensure the business has the skills and capability required for the future
- Working closely with recruitment and talent teams to attract and retain key skills
- Identifying development requirements and supporting talent and leadership development initiatives
- Using people data and HR insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
- Contributing to wider HR projects and continuous improvement across the organisation
About you
We are looking for an experienced HR professional who is comfortable operating in a hands-on, commercially focused environment.
You will ideally have:
- Strong generalist HR experience at HR Manager, Senior HR Business Partner or equivalent level
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, engineering, industrial or similarly operational environment
- Excellent knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations
- Experience handling complex and sensitive ER cases
- Exposure to trade unions and collective employee relations
- Experience supporting organisational change, restructuring or transformation
- The confidence to influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructively
- Strong coaching, communication and relationship-building skills
- A commercial and pragmatic approach to HR
- CIPD qualification or equivalent HR experience would be advantageous
