Overview and Objective of the Position

The College, Swansea University is the Joint Venture company of Swansea University and Navitas plc., a highly successful, decade-long partnership, founded originally as the International College of Wales, Swansea (ICWS). The College, Swansea University was launched in 2018 and, with the completion of a brand new academic building (October 2018) and dedicated student accommodation (January 2019), this marks a new phase in this relationship.

The College sits within the Swansea University brand and delivers a comprehensive portfolio of pathway programmes which lead to both Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees at Swansea University.

We are currently seeking an experienced and resilient Student Recruitment Manager to join The College Swansea University team, based in the Navitas Office in Lagos, Nigeria. The Student Recruitment Manager will have significant impact on the future growth of West African student numbers at The College and the successful candidate will be responsible for on the ground sales activities including, but not limited to, training, events, student conversion and troubleshooting. The Student Recruitment Manager will also be required to establish strong links with the Swansea University in-country team in Nigeria to ensure strong working relationships.

The individual in the role will be a proactive, culturally aware, outcomes focused with strong executional capabilities.  Flexible, dynamic, honest and reliable, innovative and influential. A proactive problem solver with strong organisational skills. They will require laser focus on achieving targets and work closely with both Navitas and University teams to achieve enrolment growth. They will promote cooperation; instil a positive influence on others and have fun. Key Relationships 

  • Director of Marketing and Admissions and University Partner - Provides expert insight and support to develop and execute the student recruitment strategy for The College, Swansea University in market.
  • Students / Parents - Provides information to potential students & parents (at fairs / exhibitions / information sessions/ phone enquiries etc). 
  • Regional Manager (RM) and Regional Sales Director (RSD) - Takes day-to-day operational guidance for office compliance, coordination of activities/events and strategic market advice as required. Will provide regular updates, advice and support in driving agent performance 
  • College based Recruitment and Admissions staff - Is trained in products, value proposition and sales toolkit by Marketing Managers. Provides business units  with feedback regarding products, conversion and market analysis 
  • Agency Staff - Provides training to counsellors on value proposition, product information and continually engage in ongoing relationships and nurturing of student applications

Principal Accountabilities

  • Operationalize student recruitment plans in the relevant country/territory in collaboration with college based and in-market teams
  • Attend events on behalf of your division/college/University Partner
  • Participate in all sales activities including, but not limited to, training, events, student conversion , information sessions and managing enquiries/agent requests
  • Deliver market insight and accurate sales forecasts through regular and detailed reports to the Head of Sales Operations, Director of Marketing and Admissions and Regional Manager as required
  • Handle student enquiries and manage leads.
  • Arrange and deliver sessions with prospective students and key agents
  • Ensure appropriate sales collateral is available and utilised in market
  • Ensure complete and accurate reporting of all activities on the CRM
  • Coordinate student contact to confirm outcome of visa interview.
  • Execute pre-departure process with channel partners and students

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proven track record of strong sales performance
  • High level numeric literacy and critical thinking
  • High level interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills including Business level written and oral capability in English
  • Proven ability as a team player
  • Ability to demonstrate innovative thinking
  • An eye for developing new recruitment initiatives
  • Ability to take responsibility for decisions and outcomes
  • Flexible attitude to work including a willingness to work weekends and evenings in support of recruitment activities both locally and internationally
  • Ability to meet targets within defined timelines among changing priorities

Desirable

  • Success in a sales role within the Higher Education sector
  • Proven ability to monitor and evaluate the success of activities and report appropriately
  • Proven ability to work successfully with education agents
  • Experience of working effectively within a matrix structure to ensure competing demands are met
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM systems
