Location: Leicester

Working hours: Week 1 Monday - Thursday 5:30am - 4pm and Friday 5:30 - 1:30pm -

Week 2 - Monday 12pm - 10:30pm

 

The Opportunity

A leading engineering manufacturer is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their maintenance team. This is a hands‑on role responsible for ensuring machinery and production equipment operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. You will carry out both reactive and planned maintenance, support TPM activities, and play a key role in improving equipment uptime, reliability, and overall plant performance.

This position suits a proactive engineer with strong mechanical fault‑finding skills, experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and a mindset focused on “stop it breaking in the first place.”

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical fault finding and repair of production machinery
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic diagnostics and corrective maintenance
  • Support Preventive, Predictive, RCM, CBM and FMEA maintenance programmes
  • Contribute to TPM planning and execution
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (5 Whys) and Failure Mode Analysis on equipment issues
  • Recommend improvements to reduce downtime and enhance reliability
  • Assist with facility repairs when required
  • Support machine relocation including disconnection and re‑commissioning
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and engineering procedures

 

Skills & Experience Required

  • Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
  • 3–5 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Strong problem‑solving and RCA skills
  • Experience with TPM, RCM, FMEA or similar maintenance methodologies
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills
  • Computer literate
  • Basic electrical knowledge (advantageous)
  • FLT or mobile platform licence (advantageous)
