Class 1 Driver

Location: Bedford (MK43)

Contract: Ongoing Temporary (Year-round stability)

Earnings: From £19.05ph up to £49.61ph

Class 1 Driver Opportunity

Join Gi Group supporting one of the UK’s biggest supermarkets, Asda as a Class 1 Driver. This isn't just seasonal help; we are looking for professional drivers for a long-term partnership in Asda, Bedford. You will play a vital role in keeping the nation fed by delivering to stores and petrol stations across the region.

Role & Responsibilities :

·       Chilled & frozen loads, mostly stored in cages but some cases may be pallets

·       1-3 store deliveries , this can be to  supermarkets or petrol station stores

·       Drivers must be flexible to operate Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles (always paid at Class 1 rate)

·       Conducting thorough vehicle checks and maintaining accurate digital tachograph records.

·       Drivers must drive as per ASDA professional standards which you will be coached and trained on

·       Ability to manage your Working Time Directive, and Driving Hours rules and Regulations in order to meet compliance expectations, and avoid infringement

·       Acting as a professional face of the brand when arriving at stores

Shifts :

·       Daily and Weekly Bookings

·       Available start time windows 03:00-06:00, 13:00-18:00 or 22:00-02:00

·       Minimum 1 weekend day availability is a must

·       Weekend only work available

·       Full time and part time opportunities

Benefits & Pay Rates :

·       Automatic pay rises at 12 and 27 weeks

·       Double pay on Bank Holidays (up to £49.61ph)

·       Increased holiday entitlement once first 12 weeks is completed

·       Overtime after 45 hours, paid on weekly basis

Days 06:00-14:00 : STD £19.05ph & Overtime £26.81ph

Backs 14:00-22:00 : STD £20.45ph & Overtime £28.21ph

Nights 22:00-06:00 : STD £22.41ph & Overtime £30.17ph

WK 12 Rates – Please note the below includes your advanced holiday pay

Days 06:00-14:00 : STD £19.47ph & Overtime £27.40ph

Backs 14:00-22:00 : STD £22.10ph & Overtime £30.03ph

Nights 22:00-06:00 : STD £23.66ph & Overtime £31.59ph

WK 27 Rates – Please note the below includes your advanced holiday pay

Days 06:00-14:00 : STD £20.57ph & Overtime £28.50ph

Backs 14:00-22:00 : STD £24.81ph & Overtime £31.18ph

Nights 22:00-06:00 : STD £24.81ph & Overtime £32.73ph

Class 1 Driver Requirements

·       Valid UK Driver Cards (Driving Licence, CPC and DIGI Cards)

·       Minimum 6 months Class 1 licence + 6 months Class 1 driving experience

·       Previous experience in store deliveries would be preferred, but is not essential

·       Max 6 penalty points accepted for minor offences (no DR or DD offences)

·       Availability to work weekends is essential for this 24/7 operation

·       Will have the ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as an attention to detail
