ABOUT THE ROLE

This role sits within a specialist SMSF audit function, responsible for managing a high-volume but well-structured audit portfolio of approximately 750–800 SMSF audits annually, supported by strong systems and processes.

You’ll work end-to-end across SMSF audits, with exposure to technical matters, workflow management, and collaboration with accountants and trustees. The role suits someone who values autonomy, clarity of expectations, and a steady workflow without unnecessary pressure.

DUTIES

• Plan and perform end-to-end SMSF audits

• Prepare and review audit files using CaseWare

• Assess compliance with the SIS Act and Regulations

• Prepare Audit Reports and Management Letters

• Complete and lodge Auditor Contravention Reports where required

• Liaise with accountants, trustees, and internal stakeholders

• Assist with workflow management and process efficiencies

• Support and review work of junior team members (where applicable)

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Australian SMSF audit experience essential

• Experience managing SMSF audits from start to finish

• CA or CPA qualified or in progress (not essential)

• Strong understanding of SMSF compliance requirements

• Experience with CaseWare and Xero highly regarded

• Strong communication and time management skills

• Local Australian experience required
