ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting into senior leadership, this Tax & Compliance Manager role is a key hire for the business. You will take ownership of the end-to-end tax compliance function, ensuring quality, consistency, and technical excellence across all client work.

This role combines hands-on technical review, team leadership, and process improvement. You will work closely with both onshore and offshore teams, playing a critical role in mentoring staff, improving workflows, and maintaining high standards across the firm.

DUTIES

• Oversee and manage the end-to-end tax compliance workflow
• Review and sign off on tax returns and working papers (companies, trusts, individuals)
• Ensure quality control and technical accuracy across all engagements
• Mentor and develop junior and offshore team members
• Manage lodgement timelines and ensure deadlines are met
• Lead tax training and technical development across the team
• Drive process improvements and implement SOPs
• Collaborate with leadership on strategy, systems, and growth initiatives
• Support occasional client interactions on technical matters

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• CA/CPA qualified
• Registered Tax Agent (desirable)
• Strong experience in Australian public practice (tax & compliance focus)
• Proven experience reviewing work and mentoring team members
• Strong technical knowledge across companies, trusts, and individuals
• Experience working with offshore teams (highly regarded)
• Systems experience with Xero and workflow tools (e.g. Karbon)
• Strong attention to detail, organisation, and communication skills
• A proactive mindset with a focus on process improvement and quality
