ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the CEO and Head of Development, the Finance Manager will oversee the financial operations of the business across its property development and lending activities.

This is a hands-on position suited to an experienced finance professional who is comfortable working autonomously in a lean environment. The role will have responsibility for financial reporting, cash flow management, tax compliance, project feasibilities and the improvement of existing finance systems and processes.

The role is based in Kew East and offers hybrid working arrangements, with four days in the office during probation and flexibility to move to a three-day office and two-day remote arrangement afterward.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage financial reporting, cash flow forecasts, budgets, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls across multiple property development projects.
  • Prepare detailed financial feasibilities and commercial analysis for potential acquisitions and new development opportunities.
  • Oversee the financial management of approximately 400 acres and 2,200 residential lots, including project costs, civil contracts and monthly claims.
  • Manage tax and compliance obligations, including BAS preparation, annual financial statements and liaison with external accountants regarding annual tax.
  • Lead the migration from Excel-based accounting processes to MYOB or another suitable accounting system.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • At least 5 years of relevant financial accounting or finance management experience.
  • Previous experience within property development, construction, land subdivision or a closely related industry.
  • CA or CPA qualification with strong technical accounting, tax compliance and financial reporting knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing project feasibilities, budgets, forecasts and cash flow models.
  • Strong Excel capability, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently within a small business environment.
