ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the CFO, this Senior Financial Accountant role will take ownership of the month-end process across multiple entities and ensure accurate, timely and reliable financial reporting.

You will be responsible for a broad mix of financial accounting, reconciliations, compliance, payroll support, BAS obligations and process improvement. This is a hands-on role where you will be expected to hit the ground running, support the wider finance function and oversee AP/AR activity.

The business operates across four entities, so strong reconciliation skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities will be key. Experience with Microsoft Business Central and exposure to SaaS, technology or a start-up/scale-up environment will be highly regarded. The original position description also highlights ownership of month-end, GL integrity, BAS/GST, payroll support, budgeting/forecasting assistance and working within Microsoft Business Central.

DUTIES

• Own end-to-end month-end close, including journals, accruals and prepayments
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger across multiple entities
• Complete balance sheet, bank and intercompany reconciliations
• Manage a high volume of corporate card and employee expense reconciliations
• Oversee AP and AR processes, with support from the AP/AR team member
• Support payroll activities and payroll-related compliance
• Prepare BAS, GST and other statutory obligations
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
• Provide reporting and commentary to support CFO and leadership decision-making
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, systems and controls
• Work closely with Microsoft Business Central as the core ERP platform

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• CA/CPA qualified or close to completion
• Ideally 4–6 years’ experience in financial accounting, audit or a similar finance role
• Big 4 or mid-tier background highly regarded, particularly with SaaS/technology clients
• Experience working in a SaaS, technology or Business Central environment highly desirable
• Strong month-end, reconciliations and financial reporting experience
• Confident managing BAS, GST and general compliance obligations
• Microsoft Business Central experience ideal
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large data sets
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced, privately owned business
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Clear communicator who can work with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
