Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday (Some overtime as needed)

Key Responsibilities

  • Labor Relations & Employee Relations:

    • Act as a point of contact for labor-related issues, including grievances, disputes, and contract interpretation.
    • Investigate and resolve employee grievances in a timely and professional manner, ensuring adherence to company policies and collective bargaining agreements.
    • Provide support to HR management in the preparation for union contract negotiations, including gathering data, preparing reports, and assisting in strategy development.
    • Ensure the consistent application of labor agreements and company policies across the plant.
  • Union Contract Negotiations Support:

    • Assist in the preparation for and participation in union contract negotiations, supporting the HR team in strategy development and communication with union representatives.
    • Maintain an understanding of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) and ensure compliance with its terms throughout the plant.
    • Prepare and distribute CBA-related communications to employees, keeping them informed of any changes and updates.
  • HR Administration & Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to grievances, union agreements, and other labor relations matters.
    • Assist in the preparation of HR reports, including tracking labor issues, grievances, and other relevant data.
    • Assist with HR audits and ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies.
  • Excel Data Management & Reporting:

    • Utilize Microsoft Excel to track and analyze data related to employee grievances, labor relations issues, and union negotiations.
    • Create and manage spreadsheets to support HR activities, including compiling reports and presenting findings to senior HR leadership.
    • Support HR team members in compiling and analyzing labor metrics for decision-making.
  • Employee Communication & Education:

    • Serve as a liaison between employees and management, fostering positive relationships and open communication.
    • Educate employees and management on union agreements, policies, and procedures to ensure understanding and compliance.
    • Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on employee relations best practices and conflict resolution.
  • Compliance & Legal Support:

    • Ensure compliance with labor laws, health and safety regulations, and company policies.
    • Stay up to date on changes to labor laws, union contracts, and regulations impacting the automotive industry.
    • Support management in addressing legal or regulatory issues related to labor relations.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations, or a related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in an HR or labor relations role, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.
    • Experience with union contract negotiations, grievance handling, and labor dispute resolution is highly preferred.
  • Skills & Abilities:

    • Strong knowledge of labor laws, union contracts, and employee relations best practices.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets, analyze data, and generate reports.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with union representatives, employees, and management.
    • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
    • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee relations issues with discretion.
