PAY RATE: Up to £32 per hour (depending on experience)
CONTRACT: Minimum 3-Year Contract | 43 Hours per Week

THE ROLE:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Chargehand to join a long-term project at in west London. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of electricians and electrical operatives while actively participating in electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities. This is a hands-on supervisory position offering a minimum three-year project duration with opportunities to work on a major secure-site construction project.
Please note: Security clearance will be required for site access, which can be arranged.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of electricians, electrical improvers, and apprentices.
- Allocate work activities and monitor progress to ensure project deadlines are achieved.
- Carry out electrical installation, maintenance, testing, inspection, and fault-finding activities.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and technical schematics.
- Conduct quality inspections and ensure all works meet required standards.
- Ensure compliance with current Wiring Regulations and Health & Safety requirements.
- Monitor site productivity and assist in resolving technical issues.
- Coordinate labour, materials, and plant requirements on site.
- Deliver toolbox talks and promote a strong health and safety culture.
- Liaise with Site Management and provide progress updates when required.
- Support testing, commissioning, and project handover activities.
- Mentor and assist junior electricians and apprentices.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent qualification.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- ECS or JIB Gold Card.
- Previous experience working as an Electrical Chargehand, Lead Electrician, Electrical Supervisor, or Senior Electrician.
- Strong knowledge of electrical installation and testing procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
- Inspection & Testing Qualification (2391 or equivalent).
- IPAF Certification.
- PASMA Certification.
- SSSTS or other supervisory qualification.
- Previous experience on large-scale commercial, industrial, infrastructure, or secure-site projects.
- Experience managing teams and coordinating site resources.
- Knowledge of commissioning and handover processes.
