Registered Nurse | Emergency Department

The Emergency Department at Launceston General Hospital is a busy tertiary-level department providing care for a wide variety of acute presentations, including medical emergencies, trauma, surgical conditions, paediatrics, mental health presentations, and critically unwell patients requiring resuscitation and advanced interventions.

The department supports a diverse patient flow and provides care across all triage categories, requiring nurses who are confident in rapid assessment, clinical prioritisation, escalation, and delivering safe, patient-centred care in a fast-paced environment.

ED nurses will work alongside experienced medical officers, senior nursing teams, allied health professionals, and specialist services to provide timely assessment, treatment, and ongoing management of complex presentations.

This role is ideal for nurses who thrive in a dynamic environment, enjoy variety in their clinical practice, and have strong emergency nursing foundations.




Key Skills & Experience Required:

• Recent Emergency Department nursing experience in a tertiary or high-acuity setting
• Current ALS certification
• Triage competency and experience required
• Strong assessment, prioritisation, and escalation skills
• Experience managing acute and deteriorating patients
• Confidence across a broad range of ED presentations including trauma and resuscitation
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

• Current AHPRA Registration
• Recent Emergency Department nursing experience
• Current ALS certification
• Triage experience and competency
• Strong clinical judgement and decision-making skills
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to safe, high-quality patient care
