Registered Nurse – Emergency Department | Cairns & Far North Queensland Region (Multiple Sites)



We are seeking experienced Emergency Registered Nurses to join busy and supportive rural and regional EDs across Far North Queensland.

Locations & Hospital Highlights

Tully Hospital

A small but vital rural ED supporting remote communities south of Cairns.

  • 4-bed ED within a 20-bed facility
  • Diverse presentations including trauma, medical, paediatrics & aged care
  • Close-knit team with strong autonomy required
  • Lifestyle: Rainforests, waterfalls, Mission Beach, hiking, swimming holes and tropical escapes



Mossman Hospital

A busy rural ED with strong flow and 24/7 medical cover.

  • 10-bed ED (approx. 50 presentations/day) + acute ward
  • Fast-paced environment requiring strong ED capability
  • Lifestyle: Mossman Gorge, Daintree Rainforest, Cape Tribulation, Port Douglas, reef access and river fishing



Atherton Hospital

A well-supported rural hospital in the scenic Tablelands region.

  • 24/7 ED within a 56-bed facility
  • Broad mix of trauma, medical, paediatrics & mental health
  • Lifestyle: Waterfalls, crater lakes, hiking trails, wineries and a strong community feel



Mareeba Hospital

A fast-paced rural ED with strong team support and varied presentations.

  • 6 treatment spaces incl. resus bays
  • Focus on community health and culturally responsive care

Babinda Hospital

Small rural ED with high autonomy and varied emergency presentations.

  • In-charge capability required
  • Strong focus on assessment, triage & resus care
  • Lifestyle: Babinda Boulders, waterfalls, rainforest walks, kayaking and relaxed tropical living



Innisfail Hospital

A regional ED supporting a diverse coastal community.

  • 24-hour ED with broad acute presentations
  • Strong focus on assessment, coordination & emergency response
  • Lifestyle: Beaches, rainforests, waterfalls, river systems, local markets and laid-back coastal living



Skills & Experience Required

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Strong Emergency Department experience (rural/regional highly regarded)
  • Mandatory: ALS, triage competency, iEMR QLD training, FirstNet training
  • Confident in resuscitation, acute assessment & deteriorating patient management
  • Strong IV cannulation, ECG interpretation, medication administration skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in rural and remote settings
  • Excellent communication and teamwork in fast-paced environments
  • In-charge experience desirable for selected sites
