You will report to the Head of Tax Transformation and partner closely with the Customs team in Finance to help transform the business’s customs and global stock movement processes to minimise time spent on compliance and remediation work to free up time to focus on advisory and business change support. The Customs team are based in the UK, Germany and the US and work closely with the Commercial Retail team, Supply Chain team and Supply Chain Tech teams to ensure customs compliance as well as improve the business’s ever-changing processes in this area to ensure stock is moved around the world efficiently and effectively.

What you’ll do

  • Working with Tech Team, Customs and the broader transformation team to develop a customs tax and global stock movements process, data, systems strategy, along with implementation plan and benefits tracking, adopting an automation first approach and Lean Methodology
  • Processing documentation, standardisation and streamlining, ensuring removal of silos and ensuring roles and responsibilities are understood and adhered to across the business
  • Taking responsibility for project managing, scoping and delivering custom tax improvement activities, with appropriate tax and relevant business SME support
  • Ensuring that delivery of tax changes & transformation processes are managed effectively, with regular communication to key stakeholders and that knowledge transfer is effective to BAU
  • Inputting into Finance Change roadmap governance and communication activities
  • Delivering solutions to improve ability to meet reporting obligations and empower staff to make better business decisions
  • Managing the prioritisation of customs tech change requests with the Finance Tech and Supply Chain Tech team and own the playback of this process with the Tax Customs team
  • Driving engagement and development across the Customs Tax team of how to enact process, data, system and people change to improve BAU processes
  • Championing company and finance wide communication, engagement, change management and celebration of success of major change programmes

 

We’d like to meet someone who: 

  • Has extensive exposure to wide ranging Customs issues - gained either within a Big 4 firm, with Customs authorities or another global business
  • Has experience with UK AEO authorisation and ongoing compliance requirements, bonded warehouse projects and US Free Trade Zone requirements is beneficial
  • Is experienced in guiding customs related projects and process improvement initiatives, working closely with business SMEs as well as Tech delivery teams
  • Experience of fast-paced Retail and e-commerce businesses is desirable
  • Is committed to, continuous organisational improvement, automation and the ability to act as a change agent
  • Ability to engage, conduct diagnosis, analyse findings, generate options and build commitment to solutions
  • Ability to effectively articulate and present technical information and risks to non-technical users and business sponsors 
  • Possess a high degree of project planning, organisational skills, presentation & communication skills, alongside systems & process improvement experience 
  • Self-motivated, proactive, enthusiastic and results-focus
