Import / Export Specialist (2024EXC03SP034) Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Salary: AED8000 - AED9000 per month

Role

Manage import/export logistics in the UAE, ensuring compliance, stakeholder collaboration, and resolution of shipment challenges via air, sea, and land. Optimize processes for smooth transportation and oversee documentation compliance. Lead a team, streamline operations, coordinate with agents, and enhance client satisfaction. Implement strategic pricing and contribute to the company's growth.

 

Documentation and Process Knowledge:

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of document requirements for Import and Export into UAE by Air, Sea, and land, including Invoice, Packing List, Delivery Advice, Certificate of Origin, and MOFAIC attestations.
  • Coordinate with Overseas Agents for DAP and DDP shipments, ensuring checking pre-alerts for imports, compliance with commercial documentation and consignee preparedness.
  • Coordinate collection of delivery orders from shipping lines.
  • Facilitate payment release by liaising with the finance team.
  • Knowledge of issuing Delivery Orders through Dubai Trade Portal.
  • Familiarity with issuing Delivery Orders through DNATA Calogi portal or manual processes.
  • Prepare letters for Shipping lines, DNATA, and Airlines to facilitate the issuance of Delivery Orders and other import & export processes.

 

HS Code Knowledge:

  • Identify HS codes and understand customs document requirements for imports & exports into Freezones & UAE mainland.
  • Awareness of GCC regulations such as SASO, KUCAS, etc. is preferred.

 

Customer and Transport Coordination:

  • Communicate effectively with customers and transporters to set delivery plans based on client expectations.

Short Landing & Other Unexpected Issues:

  • Resolve issues related to cargo short landing, pilferage, container shutouts, roll-overs, container damage, demurrage, and other unexpected disruptions & cost escalations in Sea and Air Shipments.

Sea Shipment Exports:

  • Manage the entire export shipment cycle from shipment confirmation to shipment sailing, including SI Submissions, BL draft confirmations, and ensuring all cut-offs are met by closely coordinating with customers.

Warehouse Activities:

  • Handle warehouse activities for CLFL clients and overseas partners, including physical checks, stock reports with the help of photos and videos, and submissions to management.

Strategic Objectives:

  • Operations and Supply Chain Management: Oversee and optimize the operational aspects and supply chain functions for key accounts, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness in delivering services.
  • Pricing Strategy: Conduct precise and thorough comparisons between available options to inform and execute effective pricing strategies.
  • Client Service and Retention: Effectively manage client relationships and implement strategies to enhance client satisfaction and retention.
  • Ensure vendor buy-rates remain within target parameters.

Team Management:

  • Assess people capacity requirements and accordingly discuss with Manager – Process & Performance to hire or rationalize the human capital based on budget and profitability targets.
  • Define roles, KPI’s and OKR’s for each reportee, such that it helps achieve organizational goals every fiscal year.
  • Build cohesion amongst the subgroup team members by creating a collaborative environment.
  • Create a delegation matrix for tasks through the subgroup and monitor the performance of the subgroup against clearly communicated objectives of the subgroup.
  • Address performance issues as necessary and report to People & Culture Manager to create suitable IDP’s (Individual Development Plans) which addresses the performance issues within 2 months.
  • Provide structured feedback directly to subgroup team members that highlights their strengths and areas where development is needed.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of subgroup team members in compliance with the Performance Management System and submit a report to the Manager – Process & Performance at pre-agreed intervals.
  • Role model behaviours that promote accountability, resilience and discipline making it easier for subordinates to emulate.

Qualifications and Knowledge:

A bachelor’s degree or experience in a related field.
