Position Summary



  • This position has direct responsibility to plan and execute APQP Quality program deliverables as defined GM and Adient Quality operating system – BOS and the program launch deliverables in PLUS Phase 2 thru 5.

  • Management of Supplier APQP activities through delivery and approval of supplier PPAPs in alignment with Customer and SDT program timing.

  • Report Monthly Program Status to Management of AQE/Program Deliverables.



Key Job Elements - Responsibilities and Accountabilities:



  • Quality Program Lead within the SDT to ensure that Program deliverables are achieved at Key Program Gate events.

  • Responsible for the elements of Supplier Advanced Quality Planning Plus Phase 2 thru 5 including but not limited to the following: SAQP kick-off meeting, Process Sign-Off, Risk Analysis, line certification, Safe launch plans, and review and approval of Supplier PPAP.

  • Develop the Prototype, Pre-Production and Production Control Plans for the program and or approve the control plans of the supplier.

  • Develop the Measurement System Analysis Plan for the program.  Responsible to ensure variable and attribute Gage studies are conducted on all gauging and improve Gage R&R where data indicates need. (R&R, Bias, Linearity, Stability)

  • Responsible for implementation of the Manufacturing Quality Systems for the prototype, pre-production, and production builds as defined in BOS / PLUS Phase 2-5 and/or specified on the Production Control Plan.

  • Responsible for completion of the inspection reports for components that are used for pre-production product builds.

  • Perform capability studies and document the results for program special characteristics and ensure that Customer and internal requirements are met (or a written Customer deviation is obtained).

  • Responsible for the color/appearance approval process (AAR) from pre-grain to PPAP, including proper Customer submission paperwork, by either performing the required activities directly or coordinating the completion of these activities.

  • Responsible to coordinate the preparation and on-time delivery of PPAP packages for submission and approval by the Customer.

  • Responsible to coordinate the preparation and on time delivery of supplier quality deliverables including: Control Plans, Capability Plans, Capability Studies, Part layouts, Gage design, Gage R&R, PFMEA, DFMEA (if applicable).

  • Utilize all applicable Customer-specific systems (e.g. GM SQMS).

  • Ensure that appropriate statistical methods are utilized throughout the Product and Process Development process and deployed into the Control Plan.

  • Responsible for completion of all other Customer-specific Advance Quality requirements.

  • Ensure that Customer, internally identified, and supplier quality issues are resolved using the appropriate problem-solving methods (Kepner-Tregoe, 8-D, DOE, 5 Why, Red X, etc.).

  • Develop appropriate inspection plans and containment plans for pre-launch builds thru 90 days Post SOP.

  • Ensure Customer Quality during Launch during Pre-Launch thru 90 days Post SOP.

  • Audit Manufacturing during Launch in accordance with established Control Plans.

  • Conduct PFMEA/DFMEA Gap Analysis.

  • Perform job functions in accordance with set policies and procedures to ensure preservation of the Company Ethics and Quality Policy.

  • Support the comprehensive continuous improvement philosophy for all Adient disciplines.



Education
 



  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required in a technical area (or equivalent experience). 

  • Quality training in the core disciplines is required, including (minimum): IATF, ISO/TS 16949, Continuous Improvement, Total Quality Management, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and SPC.

  • Candidates must demonstrate solid skills in communication, interpersonal relations, and ability to inspire individuals to improve performance.

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in quality engineering with a preference of 5-8 years’ experience.

  • Quality systems auditor training is preferred – internal.

    Technical Requirements:

  • Advanced Quality Planning including familiarity with the AIAG Advanced Quality Planning and Control Plan standard, FMEA’s, PPAPs, Dimensional layouts, gage/fixture design, and Performance/Material testing.

  • Statistical concepts, and problem-solving methodology is required.

  • Manufacturing Quality system experience in IATF, ISO/TS 16949 and customer systems.

  • Customer communication activities.

  • Professional Certification in Quality Engineering is desirable (CQE).

  • Knowledge and use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MiniTab.
