We’re proud to be recruiting for an experienced and detail-driven Import Customs Manager to lead a well-established customs team in Newport. This is an opportunity to take ownership of critical import clearance operations, support junior team members, and work closely with HMRC, port authorities, and supply chain partners to ensure full compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team of Customs Coordinators handling import clearance operations
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of CDS and Safety & Security Declarations
  • Act as the main point of contact for HMRC, clients, hauliers, warehouse teams, and other stakeholders
  • Ensure accurate documentation and data entry using government and third-party customs systems
  • Monitor compliance with HMRC regulations and UK port clearance procedures
  • Provide training, mentoring, and support to junior team members
  • Resolve customer queries and maintain strong working relationships across the supply chain
  • Support the rota with flexibility for occasional evening or weekend work as required

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong background in customs clearance, freight forwarding, or logistics
  • Prior experience in a senior or supervisory customs role
  • In-depth knowledge of UK import procedures and HMRC regulations
  • Confident using customs platforms and declaration software
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail under pressure
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including rota participation
