Electrical Maintenance Technician (Days / Siemens PLCs) (ETSHOTTON) Flintshire, Wales

A permanent opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Technician to support the Panels and Profiles remit of the Shotton Steelworks. The successful applicant will ideally be a HNC holder, with tenure in the heavy industry/manufacturing industry and working on process machinery.

 

Role: Electrical Maintenance Technician 

Location: Tata Steel, Shotton Works, Deeside Industrial Estate, Shotton, CH5 2NH

Salary: Competitive and based upon experience 

Shift Patterns: Mon-Fri, 37.5 hours per week, day shifts 

Start: ASAP but pending the successful completion of a medical, which does include a drug and alcohol test 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and improving electrical systems within the Panels and Profiles department 
  • Maintaining and repairing electrical and process machinery 
  • Focusing on maximising up-time and ensuring safe operation of electrical machinery
  • Leading and supporting preventative maintenance programmes to reduce unplanned downtime
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving electrical faults and breakdowns as quickly and effectively as possible 
  • Working with contractors and suppliers to source resources and components efficiently
  • Training and coaching production operators in basic electrical safety and maintenance best practices
  • Supporting continuous improvement within the department 
  • Ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies across all activities

Essential requirements:

  • HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience within electrical maintenance within a Heavy Industry environment 
  • Confidence with control systems and PLC’s - Siemens
  • IT literacy, especially with MS office and engineering software
  • Driving licence and access to own vehicle (due to the nature of the works)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
