DevOps Engineer

DevOps Engineer (BBBH2579) Sydney, Australia

Salary: AUD150 - AUD151 per annum
 
 
 

Responsibilities

 

  • Complete deliverables for system configuration and build as agreed with internal and external teams

  • Collaborate internally and with third party providers to ensure tasks are completed in synergy

  • Own the build and implementation of specific software solutions where applicable

  • Lead or contribute to the design of the solutions in consultation with the IT and customer teams

  • Complete coding and testing of solutions as assigned

  • Work closely with the DevOps, internal and external project teams to support multiple implementations at any one time

  • Provide input and advice on how to optimise and improve solutions

Integrate Systems

  • Support the team and the Digital & Integration Architect to design the integration pathways for multiple systems

  • Code and build the integration as designed

  • Test to ensure a successful implementation

  • Ensure integrations are aligned to the IT strategy and operating model as well as the overall business needs

Monitor & Support

  • Monitor the effectiveness of systems working closely with the IT Operations Team 

  • Support improvements and system changes as required

  • Manage release changes and future upgrades

  • Design and build reporting where required

  • Escalate incidents and concerns to the Digital & Integration Architect and CIO where required

 

Requirements

Experience 

  • 5+ years’ experience in an engineering role  

  • Tertiary qualifications in a technology-related field  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high level of personal integrity

  • Innovative thinking with the ability to collaborate and share ideas 

  • Troubleshooting skills with an ability to explore options to resolve problems as they arise 

  • Finance sector experience and knowledge of the regulator APRA (Australian Prudential Regulation Authority) standards and their application    

  • Ability to work in a start-up environment with a learning mindset and the ability to work with ambiguity  

  • Excellent relationship management skills, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to achieve great results

  • Although not required, experience in a start-up environment will be highly advantageous.

 

Technical Skills 

Experience working with some or all of the following:

  • Cloud providers, especially AWS

  • Kubernetes clusters and service meshes (eg. Istio, AppMesh)

  • Kafka

  • CI/CD pipelines (BitBucket pipelines, ArgoCD, Spinnaker) 

  • Java development (JDK 8+). Knowledge of Java frameworks (Spring, Quarkus).

  • Building Docker Containers

  • Infrastructure automation using Terraform, Cloud Formation

  • Logging systems

  • APM (Application Performance Monitoring) systems

  • SAP Core Banking platforms/Integrations 

  • Other opensource platforms (e.g. Kong)

 

Knowledge of some/all of the following:

  • AWS Services (VPC, EC2, S3, Control Tower, GuardDuty, Security Hub, EKS, MSK, API Gateway)       

  • Networking fundamentals

  • Security concepts.

  • Logging systems

  • APM (Application Performance Monitoring) systems
