Our client is a leading food manufacturer, that has seen a great amount of investment into the site and is currently installing 2 brand new production lines. Due to their continued growth and further investment plans, they are looking for a multi-skilled shift maintenance engineer.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Carry out both preventative and planned maintenance, both electrically & mechanically
• Working on high-speed production, packaging and automated machinery
• Servicing, testing & repairs of all site services / facilities equipment
• Both electrical & mechanical fault finding & repairs
• Dealing with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, sensors, inverters, pneumatics, servo drives, control panels, pumps, compressors, bearings, shafts
• PLC – electrical fault finding
• Continuous improvement projects and new machinery installations and modification work
• Prioritise workload to maximise efficiency of production lines, whilst monitoring data


Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Must be a multi-skilled engineer, ideally electrically biased
• City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical is a minimum requirement
• Must have worked in high-speed production – food, FMCG manufacturing environments
• Completed a time-served apprenticeship
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an engineer in manufacturing
• Have strong electrical & mechanical fault finding & problem solving skills
• Beneficial to have 17th or 18th Edition Electrical
• Strong team player with a continuous improvement approach
• A good level of mechanical skills – dealing with compressors, gearboxes, drives, pumps, etc
• Have the ability to prioritise multiple tasks in a pressurised environment effectively
• Comfortable and confident with sometimes working on your own initiative on shift
• Strong communication skills
• Able to use computer systems for PPM’s
• Happy working in a chilled environment
