Our client is a global leading automation & technology solutions provider, working within the food, FMCG and automated distribution industries. Due to global growth and securing multi-million-pound projects in the UK, they are looking for a PLC Controls/Robotics Engineer to join their brand new venture in the UK. 

 

 

Role & Responsibilities:

 

  • Managing work across multiple engineering field, coordinating with both the mechanical & electrical engineers, design teams, software engineers, procurement, logistics & site implementation
  • Developing complex system designs and detailed layouts for robotics & PLC systems
  • PLC Programming – writing & developing code – Siemens, Allen Bradley, Rockwell
  • Dealing with Kawasaki, ABB & Fanuc 6-Axis robots
  • Participate in technical meetings with customers/stakeholders
  • Developing new technologies in the areas of automation – shuttle systems, AMR’s, robots
  • Optimising design via simulations, testing & development
  • Work within a workshop to develop robots – simulation, emulation, testing & R&D
  • Commissioning of new systems on site a customer facilities
  • Developing functional design specifications for new projects
  • Working with SCADA systems and HMi’s
  • Perform testing & validation of new software features
  • Developing C++ and Python libraries for robotic applications

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

 

  • Experienced in PLC programming – Siemens, Allen Bradley
  • Previously have worked with robotic systems design, development & commissioning
  • Software & hardware development experience
  • Commercial awareness – handling multi-million-pound projects
  • Strong & effective communicator
  • Happy doing hands-on testing & robotic/system development in a workshop and desk-based activities, developing software & hardware
  • Willing to travel throughout the UK & overseas if needed
  • Degree in Mechatronics, Automation or Electrical Engineering
  • PLC / SCADA system design & development, including safety
  • Industrial communications experience – ProfiBus, Ethernet, DeviceNet
  • Software experience – C++ & Python beneficial
  • Experience with Emulation & Simulation software an advantage
