Our client is a leading packaging manufacturing business, they are 1 of 2 companies in the UK that provide their particular products. Due to growth within the company they are looking for a hands-on engineering team leader to lead & develop their day-to-day maintenance activities.

 

 

Role & Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for the day-to-day and week-to-week organisation of the engineering maintenance team
  • Working really closely with the Engineering Manager to learn processes & procedures with the view of a succession plan step up role in the near future.
  • Help to achieve targets for quality, cost, delivery and safety
  • Provide electrical & mechanical support & repairs for all production & manufacturing machinery
  • Workload allocation to engineers, PPM planning & scheduling, maintain records & reports
  • Use of Piranha CMMS systems
  • Staff training, holiday management, development plans, appraisals, disciplinaries
  • Project work – machine upgrades, installations & continuous improvements
  • Improve equipment reliability and operational OEE of manufacturing plant
  • Dealing with pumps, motors, sensors, control systems, PLC’s, inverters, hydraulics, pneumatics

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

 

  • Must be a multi-skilled engineer, ideally with an electrical biased
  • Happy to be hands-on with the team when needed, carry out electrical & mechanical repairs
  • Previously have worked as an engineering team leader or supervisor
  • Ideally have some managerial task experience – budget control, department planning/development
  • Worked in an industrial engineering maintenance capacity
  • Be a strong, effective communicator and flexible character
  • Have proven leadership skills and staff development / training experience
  • PPM planning & scheduling – use of Shire
  • Minimum Level 3 engineering qualified
  • Ideally have worked in FMCG, industrial manufacturing or food production previously
  • PLC – electrical fault finding skills
  • Beneficial to have experience with mechanical fabrication, fitting, machining, welding
  • Worked in a proactive PPM environment
  • Strong industrial electrical fault finding experience
  • Any knowledge of refrigeration systems would be great – FGAS certified
