Monday-Friday Days – Flexible Hours 9am-6pm / 11am-8pm

Our client is a leading one of the UK’s leading materials processing & manufacturing companies. A business that has seen year-upon-year increased profits for the past 16 years. Due to an up and coming retirement, they are looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to join their close-knit family orientated team.

 

Role & Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage the health, safety and environmental team in planning, producing & implementation of new policies, procedures, strategies and safe systems of work
  • Managing a team of 6 people, including health & safety advisors, assistants and administrators
  • Provide team with a clear path of ongoing training, support and development
  • Maintain the companies ISO 14001 and 45001 accreditations and procedures
  • Work with the team to raise safety and environmental standards
  • Reduce accident/incident rates & analyse, RIDDOR reporting and improve environmental footprint
  • Carry out HSE induction training to new team members, H&S training plans
  • Monitor and review operational compliance
  • Manage the operational plant & equipment inspections – LOLER, PUWER, Working at Height, Confined Space, Gas Safe, Air & Noise Surveys
  • Record, communicate and implement workplace fire, first aid, manual handling, COSHH and DSE risk assessments
  • Manage internal & external HSE audits to ISO 14001 & 45001 standards
  • Provide advisory support to sister site in UK, attend for HSE training to staff and improvements

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

 

  • 5-10 years’ experience within a similar HSE management level role
  • Must have NEBOSH General Certificate, preferable to have NEBOSH Diploma
  • IMEA qualification – environmental management
  • Ideally have worked in a heavy manufacturing / processing industry
  • Must have worked to ISO 14001 & 45001 standards and development of these processes
  • Train the trainer qualified
  • Member of IOSH desirable
  • Management and leadership experience
  • Flexible approach to working hours and open to travelling to other sites in the UK when needed
  • Excellent communicator across all levels of business
  • Knowledge of plant equipment inspections – LOLER, PUWER etc.
  • Comfortable conducting training & staff toolbox talks
  • Experienced in environmental standards and impact / carbon footprint
