Buckinghamshire – Home Based

£34,000 (Basic) £50,000+ (OTE)

Our client is a corrugated packaging machinery service, installation & refurbishment company, that values hard work, teamwork & developing people through training & support. They are looking for a home-based mechanical service engineer to respond to customers throughout the UK.

 

 

Role & Responsibilities:

 

  • Travelling to customers sites throughout the UK, carrying out mechanical breakdowns, servicing, repairs, maintenance, installation & decommissioning of corrugated & packaging machinery
  • Home based role, with a company vehicle, door-to-door travel paid
  • Sometimes working in the workshop in Buckinghamshire carrying out mechanical stripdowns, machine overhauls, refurbishments and repairs
  • Dealing with a variety of kit, some quite industrial, heavy but also high-tech special purposes
  • Requires sometimes overnight stays anywhere in the UK between Monday-Friday
  • Very occasional weekend work and overseas travel if needed
  • Working on motors, gearboxes, drives, pneumatics, bearings, shafts, hydraulics, valves

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

 

  • Must be a flexible person, essential part of the job, sometimes staying away, short notice travel, overseas if needed and early starts to get to customer sites
  • Corrugated and packaging experience ideally
  • Some exposure to industrial processing engineering would be great
  • Must be an experienced mechanical engineer
  • Mechanical qualifications
  • Time-served engineer
  • Strong mechanical fault finding & repair skills
  • Welding & machining experience would be an advantage
  • Ideally have worked in a customer facing role, be a strong communicator
  • Able to sometimes think on own initiative, order spares and get parts while on the job
