About the role

To manage and control all business activities for the office based in Avonmouth covering the Southwest Region from Milford Haven to Portbury and North Devon, including all other ports or anchorages that fall inside this region. Direct responsibility, in conjunction with, the Regional Manager for operational service standards are maintained by the local team, whilst ensuring that all appropriate legislation's and regulations are observed.

Key responsibilities

·        Ensure accurate production of port estimates.

·        Managing general enquires, response times to emails, and client specific KPIs.

·        Supporting the company defined administration process and managing compliance and internal and external KPIs.

·        Maintaining staff rotas and out of office attendance in support of the regional operations.

·        Fully understand and promote the company's revised terms and conditions and ensure staff compliance with the same.

·        Achievement of performance, business development, and financial objectives as agreed with the Company.

·        Manage and promote the services offered by the Company through the development of new business and take an active

            role in developing the Company's relationships with its customers and key suppliers.

·        Take an active role in day-to-day operations, so maintaining your own expertise, market knowledge, and ability to support

            operational team members.

·        Assist the Regional manager to manage staff and their personnel requirements in line with Company, and Group,

            procedures.

·        Ensure compliance with legislation and regulations relevant to the services offered by the branch office, and by the

            Company. 

·        Ensure compliance with the trading standards and conditions set by the Company, including agreed accounting and credit

            control processes.

·        Ensure that adequate control processes are in place, preventing loss to the company through fraud or negligence.

·        Establish and maintain an internal system of communication that promotes best practice, both operationally and

             commercially ensuring that members of the operations team play an effective part in the general management and

             administration of the department.

·        Conduct individual performance appraisals, including a review of the individual’s job description ensuring that the

             operations team maintains a high standard of professional and technical knowledge by identifying, and organising

            appropriate training.

·        Take appropriate action on any Health & Safety issues reported with due regard to the urgency and risk presented ensuring

             compliance with the Company’s Health & Safety policy.

·        Comply with the Company’s information systems and management systems policies.

·        Other duties as may reasonably be required of you by the management of the Company.
