Job purpose : The General Manager – France (GM) leads all business units in the country organisation. They manage managers for all areas of operation to achieve the targeted financial results, local strategy, and business goals. The GM forges relationships with local business partners, key opinion leaders, regulatory authorities, government representatives and decision makers. They spearhead strategic meetings and discussions with these stakeholders and influence decisions that support our goals. As part of the Central Europe Cluster, the GM is a member of the Cluster leadership team and contributes their business experience and expertise to add value to the debate, strategy, and decision-making process for the broader Region.
Core Responsibilities :
Financial Management
- Full P&L responsibility for business including both revenue and operating income. The role ensures that the region delivers agreed operating plan and budget, and that sales revenue exceeds target
- Develop the annual operating plan for the business aligned with the key business imperatives for the organization
- Responsible for achieving key focus product budget
- Utilises digital and data technology and tools to their fullest capabilities to drive sales growth and optimize performance at the branch
- Leverage all income streams, products, technology, services, consultancy, solutions and process enhancement
- Ensure the financial control of the business and maintain financial integrity in all areas
- Ensures the effective operation and management of all functional areas of the business such as customer service, commercial operations, sales and marketing and technical operations
- Produce accurate financial forecasting to Central Europe Leadership teams
- Generate and protect short- and long-term revenue streams
- Manage the country budget with tight control. Report regularly on budget forecast
- Manage business unit expenses to comply with the Expenses Policy and avoid overspends
Planning
- Deliver strategic plans for all business units that provide unrivalled customer value and utilise the resources of Marketing, Sales, Technical, Regulatory Affairs & other support functions
- Develop creative and insightful strategic plans and business operations, in line with Zoetis strategic goals, priorities and financial targets
- Deliver new business opportunities, products or services to the market for Zoetis. Continually assess customer growth opportunities and develop the business in line with country objectives
- Maintain a constant view of market conditions. Anticipate fluctuation. Make calculated judgements to harness the commercial potential from changing market conditions
- Translate the strategy into tactical delivery for your managers. Effectively allocate and align resources to enable delivery of the strategy
- Identify all possible business alliances, joint ventures and co-promotions, and sustain their development
Customer proposition
- Drive the delivery of a customer-centric offer. Manage this offer to contain a holistic package of products, services and consultancy
- Ensure the evolution of the customer value proposition in line with customer needs and the market direction
- Instill a strong customer focus in all team members, regardless of role or technical expertise
- Maintain high standards of business conduct and compliance, adhering particularly to Pharmacovigilance Policy and Global Vet Policy and other codes of practice and corporate policies
People Development
- Provide to your direct reports, a specific and clear direction for the strategy, objectives, policies, practices, and expectations
- Lead your team through periods of change that will drive process enhancements and deliver improved results. Through action, create an environment of innovation and entrepreneurialism

Training & Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree; advanced degree preferred
- Current passport and valid driving licence
- IT literate. Able to use standard business software and communication tools
Experience
- 12+ years extensive and broad business experience in a leading role, specifically marketing, sales, technical and organisational leadership
- Experience of business development
- Proven to produce outstanding financial results as a leader of teams
- Experience in a strategic role and in a senior leadership role
- P&L management experience
- Able to speak / write French and English at an advanced level
Travel Requirement
- Regular travel within the country
- Occasionally foreign travel
