About the Role
This role incorporates leadership in course and unit development, continuous improvement and quality assurance. It also includes overseeing planning for each session, the management of the teaching team, and the effective and efficient management of the delivery of teaching and learning. The Course Convenor plays a key role in supporting students and will generally have a teaching load – albeit a light load - to ensure strong connections with the student body.
The person we seek will ideally have the following:
- Demonstrated experience of course management
- Demonstrated experience of successfully managing teaching teams, including casual teachers
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across networks
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and initiate change
- Demonstrated ability to work with changing priorities
- Strong experience of working with international students
- Teaching experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience within a regulated education environment;
- Tertiary qualifications at the postgraduate level in a relevant discipline area
What we expect from you:
- Contribute to academic leadership through
- academic direction of the course,
- supervision of academic staff,
- oversee the development and continuous improvement of teaching and learning material
- academic oversight of assessment process
- collaborating on major course design, development and re-accreditation projects
- Contribute to quality assurance at WSUIC in a range of ways including session review, continuous improvement, risk management external referencing and reporting
- Contribute to academic governance and gain profession development
- Play a critical role in communicating with supporting current and prospective students and alumni.
- Work in a dynamic team with high team-work spirit
